1.LANGUAGE SCHOOLS WITH PHYSICAL ATTENDANCE
The old way of learning a new language is to book yourself a place in a language school and starting from zero, step by step through vocabulary and grammar. However, this method requires substantial commitment in time, effort and often even in money. According to most official sources, learning decent Danish takes around 575 hours or 24 weeks of regular study…that is almost 6 months! Sure, you could always register yourself to the Aarhus University and its free Danish lessons, but with certain restrictions as to who can attend plus the fact the skills are still acquired in normal classrooms in various locations. Not fast, not easy, and definitely not fun!
2. ONLINE LANGUAGE APPS AND PLATFORMS
We live in the world of apps, so naturally there are several apps that allow you to learn Danish. All at your own comfort, where and when you choose to learn. You will utilize multimedia resources and some providers even offer some level or interactive learning. If you have internet to use, you can be living or travelling anywhere in the world and still learn the language you want, also Danish. But bear in mind, this is a lonely way to learn and you will not necessarily be guided how to communicate in a specific social setting important to you, say, at the restaurant or at a doctor΄s appointment. You will not be able to develop your speaking skills as that requires real-time interaction, pronunciation practise and feedback from native speakers. You will not get tailored content, nor receive immediate professional feedback. Moreover, nobody will follow your progress and you are thus free to be lazy in your learning path, as discipline and consistency are hard to maintain alone. And you will definitely not get insights to the Danish way of life or cultural elements, nor hear your own pronunciation compared to what it should be.
3. DORE.APP AND OTHER LIVE DISCUSSION GROUPS
We believe in learning by doing, in this case by speaking. We want to help you integrate into the local society as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our Danish course for foreigners is for those who desire to speak from day one, make themselves understood and know what others are telling them. This is the best way to learn not only the phrases you need but also the grammar and simultaneously immerse yourself to Danish culture and even understand the secrets of local humour. You get to speak face to face both with locals, the teachers, and with others in your course. Real-life scenarios with real people, not listening to the app speaker and hoping the class material covers what you actually need and wish to learn. You can influence what is taught, not blindly follow a ready syllabus. Moreover, you can always make questions! Plus this mode of learning is suitable also to those who for whatever reason do not master technology, nor wish to.
